Yep, me too! I've always felt the best story arc was the boys' relationship, and that they've gotten farther away from it with each season. So
I'm loving this, and really hoping it brings things back on track for me.

The fans are up in arms again I see...must be summer lol...
First of all from Master of Puppets, from an interview with the Krip... "And to Supernatural fans already agonizing over last week's finale, Eric Kripke tells us that Dean will be cooling his heels in Hell for a long time. And that his bond with Sam will be massively affected as a result." WTF...no Kripke no.....I will not have my boy failing to save Dean for a long time dammit... *breathes*, that and I watch the show for the bond EEP! and From the words of Kripke in the latest SN magazine: "...but it's also about how a brother must choose to be either a Guardian or a Destroyer, and whether his familial love will save him or doom him. And that's the story I want to tell. So in my mind, it always has been, always will be, a story about brothers. You can't have Sam without Dean, you can't have Dean without Sam. I think when the whole series is said and done, you'll look back and see that Dean had a clear and steady arc that is vital to Supernatural, that makes him definitively one of the show's leads and heroes, and that the story couldn't have been told any other way." So... does this mean a bad!Dean? hmmmm...

I think "a long time" could be taken in many different ways. I mean, a long time could mean 2 episodes, it could mean 5. And just cause Dean is in
hell, there could still be some communication b/t Sam and Dean. But this is kinda what I wanted... to see Sam dealing with life without Dean, to watch him
grow-up (and maybe go darkside). And when Dean comes back to him, suddenly Sam doesn't need him anymore. Now Sam can protect himself and he has to take on
the big brother role, cause goodness knows Dean would need help after spending some time in hell.
Oooo, speaking of communication b/t the brothers, how awesome would it be for Dean to be able to watch Sam from hell... how painful would that be to watch your brother grieve for you, move on from you, and then try to continue his life, doing hunts and getting hurt. And all this Dean would have to watch without being able to help. Oooooo... plot bunny....

Yay for that!
I think that the events in the season premiere will take place some 6 months after the events of the season finale. Dean might be gone for the first episode, or maybe even the second. But, he's not going anywhere. You want to know how I know? Because Dean is one of the two leading characters. To completely write Dean off, even for a "long" time will risk alienating at least half of the viewing audience. Kat

I think the first episode will be about 4 months later... so we'll have a few episodes of seeing Dean in hell and Sam alone. Although I don't think Sam
will be alone alone.... Bobby and Ellen will be there.
I could see it going out like this... episode 1 is Sam alone, working a job by himself and we see who he has become (and I do think Sam will be actively working to bring Dean back). Episode 2 will be Bobby and Ellen with him working a job, them becoming concerned by his behavior. Episode 3 will be Sam finally figuring out how to get Dean back. Episode 4 will be Dean coming back. Episode 5 will be Sam dealing with not hunting alone anymore, trying to change how his brain has been thinking for the past few months.

Also, did you hear that Sam is the devil's son?! Oh wait, wrong show. Did you hear that Dean is in hell?! Crazy town! From what I'm hearing, the new Supernatural season is looking really good.

A bit from the interview:
MM: John was a compelling, fascinating and intense character and there has been a lot of fan interest in him. As a writer would you have liked to have had a chance to explore that character more deeply? CH: Well, as I said, I find him a great character… I loved that I got to co-write the episode where he reunites with his sons. But in the end, this is a show about Sam and Dean. John's disappearance, to put it in writerly terms, was the instigating event bringing these two boys back together. But it's their story, not his. There are a multitude of stories to be told about the three of them together, and about John as a younger hunter, etc. And those stories are getting out all over the place - in the comic books, in fan fiction, in an upcoming novelization of John's journal. But they won't really be told own our show, except as a way of illuminating Sam and Dean's journey. Yeah... did you read that right? AN UPCOMING NOVELIZATION OF JOHN'S JOURNAL!!!! That sounds soooooo cool.

Yeah I am too... Man I thought that SHE was one of few that could work with the boys... I mean yeah I know some people will love her being gone and it bing a
show with only boys again but... well I liked that they managed to get a chick into the show that had some knowledge of the occult and hell and all that as
well as no one went "NOOOOOOOO SHE WILL BE ONE OF THE BOY'S LOVER"... lol... people are nutty :)
But it was due to money not Kripke I think... I think he was rather pleased inn the end on how it turned out cus I have met a great bunch being a fan of Lauren playing Bela as well as Katie playing Ruby

On the little bug during tonight's rerun, they mentioned a "time traveling episode," which has to be the episode where we explore Mary and
John's relationship. And Mitch Pileggi (X-Files fame. He played Skinner) plays the boys' grandfather! Freakin' awesome! I LOVE Mitch Pileggi!

I can see Meg coming back. Because that demon obviously didn't die. And I still have my tin foil hat on that Henrickson didn't die. But, how is Ronald coming back? (For those of you who don't remember, Ronald is from Nightshifter.) Kat

mostly repeating what Kat has said already but
according to Supernaturalfreak over at SNTV the streaming of spoilers in the rerun included... In an upcoming time-traveling / flashback episode, meet Sam and Dean's grandfather. The character is played by Mitch Pileggi ("Skinner" from X-Files), also see the boys' parents as teenagers. Early next season, Sam and Dean will confront Dracula, Wolf Man, and the Mummy in an entirely black and white episode - a throw back to the old monster movie classics. Halloween is finally scary again… Look for Supernatural's first ever Halloween Special next season… and a look at the true-life, dark, occult origins of Halloween. and Meg, Hendrickson, and Ronald will be back (Thinking maybe the vengeful ghost epi 2?)
